Don't wake the sleeping traveler

[There are times when the bed is just calling to you, wanting you to stay in the warmth and softness for as long as possible. It's that sleepy, lazy kind of morning, when you don't have to hurry anywhere. Even Aether has mornings like these.

Someone enters the room, a familiar voice calls to him, before attempting to pull the blankets away. It's Heizou. Aether knows this voice all too well, but he chooses to keep his eyes shut, a small whine escaping him in protest as he wraps the blankets tightly around himself.]

I'm not leaving the bed. It's cold outside.

[It's not. They are in the Serenitea Pot's domain, where the temperature is always perfect, but that doesn't matter. The traveler is not getting up.

A different idea starts brewing in his head instead.]

[Love works in mysterious ways. Aether didn't even know how deeply in love he was before Heizou came to drag him out of the bed. The traveler is really grateful all of that happened. He's grateful he got to meet his partner, grateful for every moment they get to spend with one another.

He nods sleepily, snuggling closer to the other, enjoying his warmth.]

That's right. We'll take care of each other. [He repeats.] And for now... let's have a nice nap together.

[Dozing off comes easily and Aether hopes that this will be his reality from now on: falling asleep and waking up in the arms of his beloved.]

[Heizou snuggles in tight as well, pressing one more light kiss to Aether's skin as his eyes slide shut. It's so easy to just relax and bask in his lover's warmth like this, and it quickly starts to lull him to sleep.]

Mmm. I'll be here when you wake up.

[The words are mumbled sleepily as Heizou starts to drift off. He really is looking forward to waking up together everyday from now on. And to many more lazy mornings to spend together just like this.]

[The world fall silent as they both sink into the comfort of each other's warmth. Maybe at some point Paimon peeked in to see what they're doing, then immediately retreated, embarrassed and forbidding anyone from entering the room.

Hours pass before Aether starts stirring awake. The nap was really very nice and for a moment he can't tell if he's still dreaming or if this is the reality. He smiles to himself, when he realizes that Heizou is still there.

The traveler closes his eyes once more, just happy to lay like this until his lover awakes.]

[When Aether wakes, he does find Heizou still at his side, snuggled up close with his arms wrapped around his waist. But he might also notice that some things have changed. He's been cleaned up, for one thing, and is now wearing a shirt. The sheets of the bed have also been changed, and there's a glass of water sitting on the nearby bedside table closest to Aether.

Clearly Heizou woke up at some point earlier and took it upon himself to take care of all the little things so Aether could continue to sleep peacefully. He's also put on some fresh clothes himself - though they're clearly Aether's - before sliding back into bed and going back to sleep in his lover's arms.

He does eventually start to wake up again, but this time is much lazier. His eyes don't even open as he nuzzles into the Traveler's chest, just breathing him in with a happy hum. Even half-asleep he can tell Aether's a little more awake than he is, so he mumbles out a sleepy little greeting.]

Mm... Good morning~

[It's not morning. It's nowhere near morning. It's probably closer to dinner at this point, but Heizou either doesn't remember or doesn't care.]

[The warmth by his side is distracting and making him smile fondly at his lover. Heizou looks so peaceful by his side, so adorable. Aether wishes he could always wake up to this sight.

It's no wonder it takes the traveler a longer moment to realize how much has changed: that the sheets have been replaced, that he's wearing a shirt now and he's been cleaned up as well. What kind of magic is this? Was he really sleeping so deeply that he didn't feel anything? Surely, Heizou had to move him from the bed to change the sheets.

Puzzled by this discovery, Aether spends another moment just giving his partner a questioning look, before sighing.]

Good morning.

[It's not morning at all, but none of them cares.]

I was hoping to take a nice bath with you once we are both awake, but it looks like you took care of everything by yourself.

[It's sweet how much Heizou does for him, but Aether wants to take care of his partner just as much. He wants to dote on him!]

[Heizou peeks up at him from where he's got his nose buried into Aether's chest. And he can really only smile when he sees that questioning look in his eyes. He knows exactly what that's about. Aether just confirms it for him by saying it out loud.]

We can still take a bath together~

[He'd actually like that a lot.]

I just woke up earlier and you looked so peaceful... I didn't have the heart to wake you.

[He did everything so carefully so that he wouldn't disturb him. This was the Traveler's day off! It was important that he get to sleep for as long as he wanted!]

[He breathes out the smallest sighs, but smiles all the same. Heizou really is something else.]

I appreciate that, but next time don't worry so much about waking me up.

[His fingers gently brush his partner's hair. It's a slow, affectionate motion.]

Every moment I get to spend with you is important to me.

[Especially considering what he is - a traveler, always out there somewhere doing yet another commission. Sometimes it's mundane, sometimes it's a grant adventure.

Aether kisses the top of Heizou's head.]

Anyway... let's have that bath together.

Hmm... Okay~

[He couldn't refuse something Aether asked of him even if he wanted to. Especially when it's something so simple.

Heizou leans up into that gentle touch of Aether's fingers and lips, eyes fluttering shut to enjoy the way it feels. He still feels so warm and fuzzy from somewhere way down deep inside of him. He never wants that to go away.]

Aww, but the bath is so far, and it's still your day off. [He gives Aether a playful, ever so slightly pouty look, and tightens his hold a little.] Maybe I should carry you~

[Seeing Heizou relax in his arms like this brings another fond smile to Aether's face. He continues on with soft brushing of his lover's hair, happy that they can be like this. His eyes would close for a moment longer, before they finally move on to the bathroom... But that doesn't happen. Aether's thought's are suddenly interrupted by the other's words and the traveler blinks.]

Carry... me?

[There's a very prominent blush spreading on his face, before he mimics Heizou with a small pout of his own.]

Or maybe I should carry you.

[It doesn't matter that it's his day off!]

[Heizou leans in close, a glimmer of mischief and amusement in his eyes and flirty little smirk spreading across his face. He sees that blush, Aether! Don't bother trying to hide or deny it!]

It seems you quite like the idea of being carried, though...

Do I really?

[Don't look at him like that! He will try to deny everything as much as he can!]

Uh... Well, if you really want to carry me so much... I guess I can agree.

[He is very embarrassed.]

[He leans up nice and close, letting their noses press together with a happy hum.]

I do~ I like that it means you trust me.

[With his arms still wrapped around Aether like this, it's just a matter of hauling them both upright and getting out of the bed. Heizou's short, but he's stronger than he looks, so it really isn't even all that hard to do. And just like that they're both on their way to the bathroom!]

[When his partner gets so close to him, saying those things, Aether takes a deep breath in, then slowly lets the air out.]

Of course I trust you.

[He does. He could trust Heizou with everything.

When he's lifted up, it feels a bit strange at first. He really isn't used to this kind of treatment but he gets used to it eventually. His gaze is on Heizou at first, before looking down and just leaning into the warmth of his partner.

The bathroom is close, so this entire journey doesn't last long. Considering they aren't even properly dressed and likely have visible marks of the time they shared, it's probably for the best. Aether looks at the bathtub, before asking:]

Um... I could prepare the bath for us?

[He only starts to lower Aether once they're properly in the bathroom, and when he does it's to set him down comfortably on the edge of the tub. But he's still hesitant to really separate from him fully, pressing a kiss to the top of Aether's head with another soft, happy noise.]

Yes, thank you, my dear! Ah, but first...

[As he finally moves away, he reaches down to start pulling Aether's shirt up and over his head.]

Let me get this off you~

[He also feels the same. He wants to feel Heizou close, unable to part from his warmth. The kiss to the head is nice and makes him hum softly. Then he blinks, surprised when the shirt is pulled up.]

Ah, s-sure.

[He lifts his arms to help and the shirt is gone in no time, leaving him bare on the edge of the bathtub. Despite the closeness and intimacy they shared before, Aether still blushes and somewhat awkwardly reaches to the tap to start the water flowing.]

[He can't help himself. That embarrassment in his face is just so cute. So once Aether's shirt is off Heizou presses yet another kiss to his head before stepping back to discard it in the right place. The shirt he's wearing also goes with it, and just like that Heizou is back at Aether's side, gently carding fingers through his hair.

There's... so much of it.]

Man alive... How do you manage all this on your own, Aether?

[He may be still blushing, but he leans into that kiss with a more pleased expression than embarrassed one. The water continues to pour into the bathtub, the warmth of it slowly filling the air.

As Heizou joins him, Aether focuses on the water, but again, the attention his lover is giving him is just so nice. He really likes when the detective plays with his hair.]

It... can be a bit troublesome, but I'm used to it.

[He glances at the other, smiling softly.]
